Designing interface systems, human factors, and customer journeys.
I combine visual design systems with human-computer interaction principles to create intuitive experiences. Currently designing operational digital channels and 1:1 customer journeys at BMW.
Featured Projects
A selection of research projects, academic papers, and design work.
Too Close for Comfort?
A virtual reality human factors study exploring non-user acceptance of eVTOL overflights in residential areas.
The Sound of Silence
UX study evaluating conversational state transparency in humanoid robots during everyday tasks.
Quartier G - Alte Gießerei
Award-winning brand design system created for a community hub in the city of Ingolstadt.
Hand in Hand
A remote hand rehabilitation system using interactive story-based gamification.
Individual Characteristics on Simulator Sickness Susceptibility
Driving simulation study mapping how individual personal characteristics affect virtual reality motion sickness.
Vertical CID Ergonomics
Structuring & prioritizing content in Center Information Displays to optimize glanceability and reachability.
Career Timeline
Where I've been.
BMW Group
SpeedUp Program Alumnus
Specialist Customer Interaction Management
Managing operational 1:1 cross-channel messaging (Email, inApp, inCar). Leading communication template migrations to a new automation suite, standardizing customer touchpoint design systems, and ensuring global WCAG accessibility compliance.
Simulator Sickness Research / B.Sc. Thesis
Researched simulator sickness in virtual vehicle simulation. Designed, coordinated, and executed a driving simulation study analyzing human factors, establishing predictive metrics to mitigate motion sickness in virtual environments.
UX Design Intern (Early-Phase Development)
Conducted visual benchmarking, target audience mapping, and interactive interface prototyping (Figma, ProtoPie) for cockpit interiors. Created layout systems for center information displays, conducting ergonomics exploration and usability studies.
Software Engineering Intern (Automated Driving)
Developed features in a C++ data reprocessing tool, compiling unit tests and integrating build targets (Bazel, Git) for autonomous driving simulation runs.
Meraki SRL
Graphic & Motion Designer
Designed custom 2D animation, motion graphics, corporate collateral, video post-production editing, and sound design tracks for digital marketing campaigns.
RAMTAC SA
Junior Graphic Designer
Created brand visual guidelines, print advertising collaterals, layout displays, social media marketing campaigns, and motion graphics animations.
About Me
Hi, I'm Sofia.
I'm a UX/UI designer and researcher, currently based in Germany. My journey in design started with a degree in Graphic Design, which formed my fundamentals in typography, color systems, and visual communication.
To bridge the gap between static aesthetics and interactive experiences, I completed a B.Sc. in User Experience Design at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. Under the BMW SpeedUp Program, I had the privilege to contribute to early development UX for infotainment systems, develop my coding skills, conduct multiple user studies, and research human factors in driving simulators.
Outside work, I am passionate about technology, films, baking, caring for animals, and more recently, running. I am currently training hard for my very first race!
Skills & Capabilities
Let's create better customer experiences
I am always open to discussing human factors in an increasing AI world, designing for people, or opportunities in UX/UI design. Or talk to me about the movie Project Hail Mary (it was really good!)
